There is an endless list of things you can do to enhance your SEO performance. Whether it is optimizing title tags, meta tags, and click through rates, In today’s video we’re going to cover 12 SEO suggestions for a brand new website – this is a custom list that we have compiled together for new domains to get an SEO boost.

1. Use Ubersuggest to find new keywords

A great free tool that we like to use is called Ubersuggest, using this tool you can for free, find keywords that are worth targeting in Google search. The goal is to find keywords based that you have the possibility of ranking for.

You can generally rank for keywords that have a keyword difficulty relative to your domain authority. Read more on how to use Ubersuggest to find quality keywords by reading this post here.

2. Leverage G-suite as an email provider

When doing SEO it is likely you’re going to have to use Google tools such as analytics, Google search console, and Google my business.

Because of this, you should use G-suite as your primary email provider as you can access those tools directly with a Google account and if you want to keep it professional with a company email, use G-suite.

3. Set up Google search console

Google search console is a tool provided by Google that allows webmasters to index their content in the Google search engine.

Because of this, you will need to get access to Google search console to make your content appear live in the index. Google search console was formerly known as webmaster tools, and it should be set up with every new website.

4. Set up Google Analytics

Following Google search console, every new webmaster should also set up Google Analytics. Google analytics gives you similar search console data but goes in depth on various behavioral stats, geographical stats, and page by page stats.

Google analytics allows marketing professionals to make better marketing decisions by understanding exactly what your existing web users are doing.

5. Use Schema Markup for accurate page information

Schema markup allows Google to verify what type of content your page is representing. For example, a local business may consider using local business schema mark up highlighting the business location, name, phone number, and business address.

Other types of Schema mark up can highlight an article, a video, an FAQ page, and much more. To learn more about schema mark up, head over to Google’s structured data tool to see if your site is currently implementing schema.

6. Optimize website speed with Google Page Speed insights

You only have around 5 seconds to get someones attention before they lost it in the noisy world of the internet. But what happens if your website takes longer to load than 5 seconds?

By using Google Page Speed Insights, you can find out how fast your website is performing in the search engines with data to help you improve your performance.

7. Use “Ask The Public” for additional keyword ideas

Ask the public is a large directory of commonly asked questions regarding your topic of choice. This is becoming more powerful in terms of an SEO strategy because Google has become the website people go to ask questions and get answers.

By using a tool like Ask The Public, you’ll find those keywords people are asking the most. Once you find those keywords, you can then create website content to match those questions and start to see awesome rankings!

8. Purchase an “exact match domain”

Exact match domains are domains with a keyword as the URL. For example, if your website was looking to rank for “vegan dog food” – your exact match domain would be vegandogfood.com.

The goal here is to have your target keyword in the domain so Google can use your URL to rank your website. Google came out with an exact match domain update in 2013 so make sure to read those guidelines before publishing an EMD or trying to use one for spam purposes.

9. Purchase a “phrase match domain”

Phrase match domains, otherwise known as “PMD’s” are much less spammy than EMD’s and often have a similar ranking benefit. PMD’s come in handy as you can have your branded keyword in there as well as a direct target keyword.

For example, if we were trying to rank for “vegan dog food” and wanted to use a PMD, we would want to create a domain such as “eric’s dog food”. Although it does not have the keyword “vegan”, it still has dog food and would appear higher in the searches because of it.

10. Optimize your title tags for clicks

When someone uses a search in Google they look at 2 things. First is your title tags, second is your URL. With these, you need to be optimizing your Title Tags for more clicks inside of the search engine.

One of the best ways to do this is having some type of social proof, call to action or something unique in your title tag that your competition is not doing.

One way of doing this is by throwing the keyword into Ubersuggest. Then you can see what’s showing up and ranking on the first page of Google. If their’s nothing appealing that’s ranking such as typical information, you can have leverage by calling out how many reviews you have or how fast your service is in your Title Tag. With this, you can have a higher click-through rate (CTR).

Overall this will increase your website traffic and website ranking.

11. Place more forms on your website and ask for conversions

If you’re not optimizing for conversion rate optimization, it’s a metric that Google is clearly looking at when it comes to SEO, PPC, regardless of what it may be. You need to make sure that you are optimizing for conversion rate optimization.

This can apply to anything, especially on news sites. This is going to become very critical if you have leads coming through your site and submitting on your form. If you’re not getting form submits or not capturing email addresses, you need to focus on more call to actions (CTA) on your site.

With this, you have a higher potential to get more conversions and help increase your website rankings.

12. Reduce your image sizes for faster website speed

First things first, don’t use PNG and use JPEG. Make sure your images are under a megabyte and are in kilobytes. That would generally be the best time to upload an image into WordPress or any CMS that you’re using.

This can be done in Photoshop or any tool similar online. Make sure when you’re building out your landing page, website, etc. to minimize your image files. Avoid screenshotting or downloading images because most likely they’re going to be over a megabyte and will slow your website down.

You can see your competitors website speed by using Google PageSpeed Insights. Once you know your competitor’s speed, optimize to beat them, get higher rankings, and make more money.
